In the third quarter of 2024, the air travel app market on iOS in Africa showed varied performance among the top contenders. Here, we delve into the weekly trends for downloads, revenue, and active users for these apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Investec InTransit by Dragon Pass Company Limited saw a significant fluctuation in weekly downloads. The app peaked at around 31K downloads during the week of September 23, after an initial high of approximately 18K in August. However, there was no recorded revenue or active user data for this period.

FlySafair, a homegrown South African app, maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter. Downloads varied between 2.8K and 9.2K weekly, reaching their highest in mid-August. The app's active user base remained stable, starting at 20.6K and peaking at 24.6K in the same period.

Flightradar24 | Flight Tracker from Sweden exhibited a steady revenue stream, starting at around $2K and increasing to $2.6K by the end of September. Weekly downloads remained consistent, fluctuating between 2.5K and 3.9K. Active users maintained a steady presence, with numbers ranging from 12.5K to 13.7K throughout the quarter.

Qatar Airways experienced stable weekly downloads, fluctuating slightly around 2.3K to 2.7K. Active users remained consistent, with a slight peak at 17.4K in mid-September.

Emirates showed a gradual increase in weekly downloads, from about 1.7K in early July to approximately 2K by September. Active users also saw a gradual increase, ending the quarter at around 5.9K.
